Opps She Did it Again
Oh, Oprah you’ve done it again taking the world by storm with a new campaign— No it’s not pennies for dreams, electing Barack Obama, or cleaning out a closet.
It’s texting while driving, and I think she’s onto something, something I needed to hear.
Like you, I too have texted while driving.
Here are some facts, from Car & Driver magazine and the University of Utah:
If you talk while driving your 4x more likely to get into an accident (that’s talking with or without a bluetooth) If you text and drive you’re 8x more likely to get into an accident. Let’s put these sobering statistics in perspective a drunk driver is 4x more likely to get into an accident which means this…texting at 8x is worse than a drunk driver….eeeee
The scary thing is this— we all think we’re amazing drivers, come on, you do. that multi-tasking is an art that we’ve or I’ve perfected, when really in the case of driving doing less is more.
So, thanks Oprah, I may have added another resolution to my list. and yes, you just read a blog about Oprah- look how broad your horizons are becoming! (close to a middle aged house wife!)

hummm
my mind has been running on overdrive, but also painfully slow. i’m sitting waiting for something, but also needing and wanting to step out into something new. someone asked me, what i wanted for myself, i decided two things- there are things I can control…and there are things i wait for.
so i’m trying to figure this all out, a battle between waiting, and running. wondering what is next, yet seriously wanting “shalom” an all encompassing peace to surround any step i take. where is the peace in risk? questions swirl and i want to have answers but i don’t, i want to have full control, but i can’t. welcome to 2010 perhaps not as emotionally volatile as 2009, but definitely is a different beast. where is the manual to figure out life? please don’t tell me it’s the bible.
